IDS Day 4: Four of Wands

Warm, inviting colors. A pristine, empty house. 4 planted wands, decorated and stately. Dancing in the streets.

The frogs are dancing across the threshold of the long walkway, marked by the staves. Their project is complete, and I imagine it is the house they built. Alternatively, something about this card reminds me of a wedding procession. Either way, a celebration!

This card speaks of partnership and cooperation, and a job well done. A warm fuzzy story comes to mind as to the pair closest to the house. Mr. Frog appears on one knee, nervous but pleased. I think he has asked Ms. Frog to marry him. Their hands look more intimately intertwined than the pair in the foreground. This is an old relationship and it is taking a step forward.

Another interesting note is the symmetry of this card. Where the first three wands were asymmetrical and sort of disordered, 4 of wands is stable and ordered. There is a firm foundation in this space! And as the eyes (and frogs) move to the background, the plants get smaller even though the perspective on the house never changes. Forward motion toward a clear goal.

There are so many layers to the complexity of this card! The entire meaning seems to change based solely on the details I notice. I have to wonder if this is how experienced readers feel when working with the cards. Especially as a card alone, would I intuitively recognize the meaning or would I be muddled in the possibilities? Does it get easier to see the answers the longer you've been reading the cards?

I've taken to listening to music during my card work. Television is too noisy, but in silence I get distracted now that classes have begun again and I am so stressed. If I listen to the right music though, the stuff which stirs my soul at that moment, it drowns out my internal dialogue and I hear the card over the sound of my own bias. It's thrilling.

(If I may do some humble celebration, I nailed this without any help from the books!)

As an aside, I think deck put me in my place last night. Long story short, after making the new year post about my understanding of Strength, what card have I pulled 3 times this week? That's right. I can't even be annoyed! I love this card as a dear friend. :)

Cheers!
